Meet the Pastor

Rev. Leonard Mason, Sr.

Pastor, Eureka Missionary Baptist Church

A Life of Faith, Service, and Commitment to the Kingdom of GOD

A native of Memphis, Tennessee, Rev. Leonard Mason, Sr. is a devoted servant of GOD whose life and ministry reflect a steadfast commitment to proclaiming the Gospel of JESUS CHRIST, strengthening Christian discipleship, and advancing the Kingdom of GOD through preaching, teaching, and service.

A 1971 graduate of Westwood High School in Memphis, Rev. Mason answered the call to serve his country through military service. Following his tour of duty, he continued his educational pursuits, earning an Associate Degree in Electronic Technology. His professional journey eventually led him to Houston, Texas, where he pursued new career opportunities and met the woman who would become his beloved wife of 39 years. Together, they have been blessed with seven children—two daughters and five sons—all of whom are now adults.

Answering the Call to Ministry

In 1993, Rev. Mason answered GOD’s divine call to the Gospel ministry, beginning a journey of Christian service that would profoundly shape his life’s purpose. From the outset, he demonstrated a genuine passion for ministering to others, faithfully serving in Prison Ministry, Mission Societies, Youth Ministry, and various other areas of church leadership and outreach.

His early ministerial experiences strengthened his conviction that the Church must serve not only as a place of worship, but also as a source of spiritual nourishment, encouragement, education, and hope for individuals and families.

Recognizing the importance of being thoroughly equipped to rightly divide the Word of Truth, Rev. Mason pursued theological education, attending seminary from 1997 to 2000. The Biblical knowledge and spiritual foundation gained during those formative years have continued to influence his approach to preaching, pastoral leadership, and Christian service.

Shepherding the Eureka Missionary Baptist Church Family

After many years of faithfully laboring in the LORD’s vineyard, Rev. Mason received another divine assignment: the call to pastor Eureka Missionary Baptist Church, located in the heart of historic South Memphis, Tennessee.

In 2026, Rev. Mason marks 16 years of pastoral leadership at Eureka MBC, where he has remained committed to shepherding GOD’s people with compassion, humility, and an abiding reverence for His Holy Word.

Throughout his pastorate, Rev. Mason has sought to cultivate a congregation grounded in Biblical truth, strengthened through Christian fellowship, and inspired to demonstrate the love of JESUS CHRIST through service to others. His pastoral philosophy reflects the belief that every soul matters and that every believer has a meaningful role in the work of GOD’s Kingdom.

Under his leadership, Eureka MBC continues to embrace the spirit of a close-knit church family, where visitors are warmly received, members are encouraged in their faith, and the transforming power of the Gospel remains central to the life of the congregation.

A Renewed Commitment to Christian Education and Discipleship

In recent years, GOD has placed an increasingly profound burden upon Rev. Mason’s heart concerning the importance of Christian education, Biblical teaching, spiritual training, and discipleship.

Having personally experienced the tremendous value of theological education, he recognizes that a strong understanding of GOD’s Word is essential to developing spiritually mature Christians who are equipped to live according to Biblical principles and share their faith with others.

This conviction is reflected in the words of Hosea 4:6 (KJV):

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…”

For Rev. Mason, this Scripture serves as a powerful reminder of the Church’s responsibility to teach the Word of GOD with clarity, conviction, and purpose. He believes that meaningful Christian education must extend beyond the pulpit, equipping believers of all ages to understand Scripture, strengthen their personal relationship with CHRIST, and apply Biblical truths to everyday life.

As he looks toward the future of Eureka Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. Mason is committed to making Christian education a foundational priority of the ministry. Through expanded opportunities for teaching, training, and discipleship, he desires to help believers grow in spiritual wisdom, develop confidence in their faith, and become effective witnesses for JESUS CHRIST.

Building the Kingdom Through Preaching, Teaching, and Discipleship

At the heart of Rev. Mason’s ministry is an enduring desire to glorify GOD and lead others into a deeper relationship with JESUS CHRIST. His calling is rooted in the conviction that the Gospel has the power to transform lives, restore hope, strengthen families, and bring salvation to those who believe.

Guided by the Great Commission recorded in St. Matthew 28:19–20, Rev. Mason remains devoted to making disciples, teaching the principles of GOD’s Word, and preparing the next generation of Christian believers and leaders.

His vision for Eureka Missionary Baptist Church is one of continued spiritual growth, strengthened Christian fellowship, and an increasingly knowledgeable congregation equipped to carry the message of CHRIST into the community and beyond.

Above all, Rev. Mason desires that his life’s work reflect faithful obedience to GOD’s calling and that every effort in ministry contribute to the enlargement of His Kingdom.

Through faithfulness in preaching, excellence in teaching, and dedication to discipleship, Rev. Leonard Mason, Sr. continues to labor for the glory of GOD and the advancement of the Gospel of JESUS CHRIST.
