A Walk Down Memory Lane…

The History of Eureka Missionary Baptist Church

The Eureka Missionary Baptist Church was organized in 1985 by Mr. Jack Washington, Mr. Robert Johnson, Mr. Willie Hill, Mr. Sylvester Bowens, Sr., (who served as the Board of Deacons) and under the leadership of Rev. Anthony Nollie.

At that time, Mrs. Jean Blackmon served as the church head secretary, and Mrs. Elizabeth Delany served as the assistant secretary.

The church united in a combined worship service with Jordan River Missionary Baptist Church at 1274 Greenwood Street in Memphis, Tennessee. The Eureka Missionary Baptist Church remained there for approximately two and a half years.

On August 2, 1987, the Eureka M.B. Church moved into its own edifice at 1595 Lamar Avenue in Memphis, Tennessee, under the leadership of Rev. Anthony Nollie.

After ten years of faithful service as Pastor of Eureka M. B. Church, Rev. Anthony Nollie resigned as Pastor. After the resignation of Rev. Anthony Nollie, Eureka M. B. Church immediately began its search for a new leader. With much prayer, The LORD blessed the church with a new leader within two months. The LORD laid it on the hearts and minds of the members of the Eureka Church family to elect Rev. Floyd C. Rogers, Jr. as their new leader and on August 10, 1997, Rev. Floyd C. Rogers, Jr. was officially installed as the Pastor of Eureka M. B. Church

Under the leadership of Pastor Floyd C. Rogers, the church grew and united with the Shelby County District Association, which is comprised of several Baptist churches in Memphis, Tennessee and under The National Baptist Convention U. S. A., Inc, where the headquarters was located in Nashville, Tennessee.

Pastor Floyd C. Rogers served faithfully until his death in January 2010. After mourning the loss of their leader, the members of Eureka M. B. Church began to move forward with the search for a new leader.

After much prayer and months of searching, the members of Eureka M. B. Church voted to elect and later installed Rev. Leonard Mason, Sr. as their new Pastor.

On October 24, 2010, Rev. Leonard Mason was officially installed and assumed the duties as Pastor. As of today, Rev. Leonard Mason still serves as the Pastor of Eureka M. B. Church, located at 1595 Lamar Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee.
